Here's my first stitched card; I created my first pattern. Not perfect, but pretty. TW

Joe Pool Lake

We had a nice day today. We spent the evening on the lake with some new friends; they have a very nice pontoon boat. We saw a lovely sunset, too. Hannah looked so cute in her life jacket. It was nice to see her have so much fun.

The last week has been pretty busy, but what's new?

I've learned a couple of new crafts: card stitching and needle felting. I'll try to show something I've stitched. I never thought I'd enjoy any kind of sewing, but I really enjoyed learning some stitches a friend of mine showed me.

Something cute Hannah said earlier today: when she was playing with some little toy puppies, I asked if they had a dad, but she said no, they just had a mom. When I asked her why, she looked up and said, "Their dad was a drinking dog." I nodded. She continued, "Yeah, he liked to drink dog alcohol." Whew! She has quite an imagination! Since John and I don't have one thing to do with alcohol, I was surprised. But throughout her life, we'll have conversations about different people and situations, so she must have remembered something I said about drinking or read something about it on her own.

Anyway, this is just a short update.

Mermaid Life 1

This is Hannah's artwork. She used stamps. Not bad for an 8-year-old. I think the mermaid and octopus look so friendly!

Unexpected Date

Thanks to a good friend, Hubby and I got some unexpected time together! What a treat. Did we do anything special? Well, we drove around Cowtown in Fort Worth a little. Would you believe I've never been there? It actually looks like it might be fun to walk around and see them Cowboy sights. I used to loathe all things cowboy, or at least grew weary of them, being an Oklahoma girl. I also attended elementary and high school down the street from the Cowboy Hall of Fame in OKC, for pete's sake!
Thank you, Mindy, for giving John and me an unexpected day (and overnight) together. All we did was nap, drive around, go for a walk, watch North by Northwest (good ol' Cary Grant), and make our own brownie sundaes. Yes, on second thought, it was simply perfect!

Oh, and here is a cute picture of John and Hannah on his birthday.
