My Mother's Day

I had a great weekend. I went on a “Mother’s Getaway,” and had a blast. It was way past time for me to do something fun. It hit me all of a sudden Friday afternoon—I needed to get away!

Of course, I only drove about 20 minutes away to Grand Prairie. I stayed both Friday and Saturday nights in a hotel. Boy, that was nice. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and I must say, it feels very fancy to me. All the bedding, the sheets and comforter, feel divine, they are so soft and cozy. And you get about six pillows—I love that!!

On Sabbath (Saturday) I went to the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park. I saw lots of awesome sea life, including coral reef, jellyfish, cuttlefish, an octopus, starfish, piranhas, a sea turtle, an alligator, an alligator turtle, crabs, seahorses (my favorite), a moray eel, sting rays, electric eel, and much more. I love being reminding of how creative God is in all the creatures He’s made.

I then went to the IMAX theatre and watched a neat film called Roving Mars, all about the robots that rove around on Mars, taking pictures, etc. The film documents how long it took scientists to create the robots, what special features are built in, such as special tires that can maneuver Mars’ topography, etc. Very neat!

Sunday I did some shopping in a town called Addison, directly north of Dallas. I was very impressed, it had some swanky plazas and shops. Not too many of them were open, but it was fun to roam around anyway. Enough of the stores were open (like the ice cream shop) to at least get a feel for the place when more stores are open during the week. I even had some ladies take some pictures of me (they were already taking pictures of each other, looked like a mother/daughter combo). I hardly ever remember to get pictures of myself taken when I’m on one of these getaways!

Well, that’s the story of my weekend. I had a glorious time and came home that evening to a lovely red rose and baby’s breath, loving husband and daughter who missed me very much, and last but not least, a gift certificate to a day spa (I think I’ll get the reflexology treatment—my feet are all ready for that!).

All for now,

TW

  1. As much as I miss you when you are gone, reading about your Jubilees allows me to go along for the ride.
