Oldie but goodie (Valentine's cards)

Okay, so yes, I KNOW Valentine's is long gone and spring has sprung, but I have been trying my hand at a new craft--Crochet--and haven't been making as many cards as usual. But I have oodles of cards just waiting to be posted on here, so I thought I'd pick these bright and cheery ones. After green, red is my next favorite color. And sometimes, I like it better, when I'm feeling wild, carefree and unbridled (okay, now that you all are giggling at the image of ME being wild...) Go RED!

Emerging poem and digital collage

When I first saw this photo, I was dismayed that my autofocus zeroed in on the flowers instead of Hannah. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of how, when we are in the background, God is in the foreground. And what may seem like a mistake at first can turn into something beautiful, both in a photo and in our lives.

Hannah is growing into such a lovely young woman and I'm so proud of her. She tries to stand for what is right and chooses sweet friends, not pushovers, or wishy-washy fairweather friends. But ones who listen to their parents (most of the time!) and love God. I couldn't be more proud.

Tribute to Nancy A.

I lost a dear friend and family member last week. A wife, mother, grandmother, friend and so much more, Nancy A. was such a precious woman. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman, and was someone who represented the Light of the world. She was gracious, humble, kind, giving and the most loving person you will ever meet.
These words are a comfort to me, found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.
I loved you, Nancy, and I will miss you dearly. I look forward to seeing you on the Resurrection day. I commit to being a prayer warrior for your husband, parents, children and grandchildren until the day He comes.

Another fairy card

A "thinking of you" card for all those green or purple color lovers. A bit "busier" than I usually like or make, but still fun.

My first commissioned art piece

I am so excited to showcase this card, which is my first "commissioned" piece of art. A friend wanted me to make an "I'm Sorry" card for her to send to someone, and here it is. I believe it turned out fairly well. Because two of the panels are white, I'm not sure it pops quite as well on the computer screen, but at least the stitching looks fairly clear and colorful. I stitched the butterfly with purple and yellow thread (as well as the star flowers). The lavendar ribbon under the stitching is also pretty.
Hope you enjoy!

This little piggy came home

I'd like to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Jackie Fred Williams, our guinea pig. Hannah named him Jackie because the tan color on his back is the same color as her winter jacket; and Fred is from the I Love Lucy show, because he is short and dumpy (no disrespect intended to the actor OR the piggy...)

Jackie is becoming more and more comfortable with his pet parents. Hannah is excited to have a pet again. She loves to play with him. We were very surprised to find that guinea pigs really do making "squeaking," and "squealing" noises. And he loves to cuddle with us as well, he lets us hold him and brush him for quite a while before he gets squirmy. :)

So far we know he likes strawberries, carrots, red cabbage, lettuce and apples. And he's crazy about his hay! :)

We realized how much Hannah is truly growing up when she took care of all the, um, unpleasant duties of caring for an animal, without being asked. I told her how proud I was of her, and she looked at me and said, "Well, he's my responsibility now, I need to do things like that!" Yay for nine-year-olds!

We Love Pam!

Hannah and her Aunt Pam have a very special relationship. I love this picture, which was taken the weekend Chloe and Jimmy (niece and nephew) were baptized. A simple collage, yet it shows how much Hannah (and her mommy) love Aunt Pam.
